Voici le communiqué de presse (abrégé) pour la tournée d’Adonis Puentes./Here’s the press release (abridged) for the Adonis Puentes tour.
(Charlottetown, P.E.I.) The Atlantic Presenters Association (APA), in partnership with the Department of Canadian Heritage and Réseau atlantique de diffusion des arts de la scène (RADARTS), are thrilled to announce a five date tour with Cuban-Canadian, Grammy nominated artist Adonis Puentes & the Voice of Cuba Orchestra in July to celebrate the culture of the Pan American and Parapan American Games in Atlantic Canada.
“With the support of the Department of Canadian Heritage, we are working with presenters in our region to help Canada celebrate hosting this significant sporting and cultural event. In July, Canada will welcome the 41 countries and territories of the Americas and the Caribbean in Toronto and we wanted to join the party by bringing a bit of the Pan American culture to Atlantic Canada!” said Laurie Gillis, Executive Director of the APA.
Adonis Puentes and the six-piece all-star all-Cuban backing band will be paying homage to one of the most iconic figures in the Afro-Cuban diaspora, María Teresa Vera. They will also let rip on some material from Adonis’ solo projects, including his Juno-nominated 2013 effort, Sabor a Café.
"Since arriving in Canada from Cuba 16 years ago, Puentes and his fraternal twin brother, who performs as Alex Cuba, have earned a Juno nomination together as the Puentes Brothers.
Since embarking on his solo career, Adonis has gone on to global acclaim. He garnered a Grammy nomination for his lead vocal work with the nine-piece, L.A.-based Mongorama. He has sung at the Greek Theater in L.A. and he has also performed at New York’s Lincoln Center, where he shared the stage with Latin music luminary Ruben Blades before 24,000 fans. In addition, he has performed at festivals around the world, from Texas to Indonesia. You can catch Adonis Puentes & the Voice of Cuba Orchestra on July 1st at King’s Playhouse in Georgetown, PEI; July 2nd at Société culturelle des Hauts-Plateaux in Saint Quentin, NB; July 3rd at the Arts & Culture Centre in St. John’s, NL; July 9th in Little Brook, NS as part of the Le Moulin de la Baie performance series; and July 10 in Halifax, NS as part of the Halifax Jazz Festival.
Cette tournée est rendue possible en partie grâce au gouvernement du Canada./This tour has been made possible in part by the government of Canada.
